Q: Does a person have to be bar mitzvahed to wear a tallit?
A: One becomes bar or bat mitzvah AUTOMATICALLY at the proper age... whether one celebrates the occasion through a ceremony or not. The age makes one bound by the commandments, not the ritual of the ceremony. So the answer to your question is: no, one does not need to have had a bar or bat mitzvah ceremony, one need only be above the age for the ceremony in order to wear a tallit. |
